Novato Police Nab Suspected Shoplifting Duo Following Chase to Taco BellSource: Novato Police Department

Novato Police Corporal on a routine patrol at Vintage Oaks Shopping Center was alerted to a theft incident. A good Samaritan pointed him toward the subject, still parked near Target in his Mercedes, where the heist had just gone down. The incident occurred on Tuesday around 3:00 PM, when the officer was waved down and given the tip-off.

The driver, when confronted, decided the best course of action was to floor it toward a Taco Bell on Rowland Blvd. However, his bid for freedom was short-lived. An officer responding to the shopping center incident spotted the Mercedes and pulled off a successful traffic stop in the fast-food joint's parking lot. The suspect, identified as 58-year-old Tony Adger from San Pablo, decided to make it a combo of charges by adding resisting arrest to his shoplifting appetite, leading to his booking into Marin County Jail.

Subsequent investigation by the Novato Police Department (NPD) officers revealed that Adger wasn't acting solo. He had an accomplice inside the store, a woman they later found and identified as De Shauna Jones, a 46-year-old with an outstanding warrant for her arrest from prior theft charges in Campbell County. This revelation came according to information obtained by Novato Police's Nixle alert. Jones, who was caught with not only stolen goods from Target but also brass knuckles, was also charged and booked.

The evidence was undeniable, as Target's video surveillance confirmed that the items found in Jones' possession were stolen.
