Tragedy struck on a sunny Thursday morning in Pomona as gunfire shattered the peace in a residential neighborhood. Pomona Police responded to a call of shots fired in the 1300 block of W. Mission Boulevard just past 11:30 AM. Officers discovered an adult female with a gunshot wound upon their arrival. Despite rapid transport by L.A. County Fire personnel to a local hospital, the victim, whose identity remains undisclosed pending notification to family, did not survive their injuries.

The Pomona streets, which once echoed with the sounds of children at play, were quickly taped off as a crime scene, leaving residents to grapple with the immediate shift from idyllic to horrific. Pomona Police Department's Major Crimes Unit, residing in the heart of the chaos, is spearheading what has now become a homicide investigation.
