San Antonio Police Investigate Fatal Shooting of Man in Family Dollar Lot Amid MeetupSource: Google Street View

A man was fatally shot in a Family Dollar parking lot on the West Side of San Antonio late yesterday evening in what is believed to have been a meetup gone wrong. KENS 5 reported that the victim, identified as 23-year-old Joshua Solis, was attempting to meet someone on behalf of his mother outside the closed store when he was approached by two men who asked for his name.

The situation turned lethal when Solis, feeling uneasy, tried to leave the scene in his truck, and the two suspects began firing at the vehicle, with bullets striking him twice in the back, KSAT reports say police added a woman was with him in the truck but did not specify her condition. The suspects fled the scene before law enforcement arrived at approximately 10:30 p.m. to the 5800 block of Culebra Road, near Callaghan Road and Gilbert Gaza Park.

Despite being rushed to the hospital in critical condition, Solis succumbed to his injuries while the San Antonio Police Department, Fire Department and EMS had responded to the emergency call but the perpetrators remain at large, with no descriptions provided to aid in their capture.

The incident has triggered a full-scale investigation as authorities are piecing together what transpired in that desolate parking space while detectives are scouring for evidence and any potential leads that might illuminate the motive behind this tragic encounter. A sergeant on the scene commented that they are looking into all aspects of the shooting, according to KENS 5.
