A 46-year-old man on an electric scooter was struck by a truck after running a red light in Kensington, the San Diego Police Department reported. The man was transported to a local hospital following the collision, which occurred on May 22nd at around 10:02 am, according to the SDPD Watch Commander's log.

The incident, logged as number 31250, took place at the intersection of El Cajon Boulevard and Fairmount Avenue; the 67-year-old driver of a 2020 GMC Penske truck was heading southbound on Fairmount Ave when the collision happened, the scooter rider suffering an open fracture to his left tibia. Fortunately, the injuries were determined to be non-life-threatening, which could have been much worse considering the nature of such accidents.

Officer S. Foster served as the Watch Commander at the time of the incident, which disrupted traffic in the popular neighborhood for several hours. SDPD's specialized traffic units were on the scene and will oversee the ongoing investigation.
