A 32-year-old man has been taken into police custody following an alleged assault involving a firearm in Southeast D.C. earlier this month, authorities reported.

The incident, which took place on April 5, unfolded in a residential building where the accused, identified as Antonio Johnson of Southeast, is said to have confronted the victim. According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the altercation occurred around 3:36 p.m. in the 3100 block of Naylor Road, where Johnson allegedly assaulted the victim and brandished a gun toward her before fleeing.

In the wake of a detailed investigation by the Seventh District detectives, Johnson was arrested on May 3rd. The Metropolitan Police Department confirmed he has been charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, a grave charge that underscores the violent nature of the encounter.
