Chaos erupted at Andrew Station in South Boston when three teens were stabbed during an after-school brawl that involved dozens of young people. The violence broke out aboard an MBTA bus around 3:50 p.m and spilled into the station, with onlookers trying to make sense of the commotion among kids so young, as reported by Boston 25 News.

Authorities say the suspects were detained on scene, although numbers have not been disclosed. In the midst of screams and chaos, Israel Matias, who witnessed the event, "He said he'd been stabbed, so I grabbed his sweater, and I put my hand on it to put pressure," he told WCVB. Surveillance footage from a nearby liquor store showed one victim seeking assistance, which, the clerk confirmed, he promptly attended to by calling 911, while the teenager clutched at his chest, struggling for air.

According to the WBZ-TV coverage of the incident, the altercation seemed to start on a bus and escalated after the group got off. This large group primarily consisted of students, identifiable by their backpacks, and the conflict triggered a mass dispersal in all directions in the ensuing panic. Matias, who was seated nearby during the eruption of the fight, recounted the horror as he saw blood and realized a boy had been stabbed, acting instinctually to help. "I just tried doing the best that anyone would do in that situation," he said.

Despite the seriousness of the event, the injured parties are expected to survive, all suffering from non-life-threatening injuries after being transported to area hospitals by Boston Emergency Medical Services. Matias expressed his concern after the incident, lamenting the state of the community, "It's really sad and I pray for the community to get better with understanding what is going on in the streets," he told WBZ-TV. Normal operations for the trains temporarily disrupted at Andrew Station resumed quite swiftly, within about 15 minutes as per MBTA's announcement. The investigation into the brawl by transit police continues.
