An accident in San Diego's Emerald Hills neighborhood left a 67-year-old pedestrian with serious injuries, including an open fracture to her left ankle and a scalp laceration. The incident, logged as number 36238 by the San Diego Police Department, unfolded at approximately 6:25 PM on Tuesday, along the 5100 block of Lenox Drive. According to the City of San Diego, the collision involved a 33-year-old male who was operating a 2005 GMC Yukon.

Officer Buttle, the watch commander on duty, noted that at the moment of the collision, the driver was hindered by the sun's glare and while reaching for his visor, inadvertently struck the pedestrian who was in the roadway. The vehicle was traveling at a "slow speed" between 10 to 15 MPH, and alcohol was not considered a factor in this accident. The pedestrian was transported to the hospital following the incident, yet fortunately, her injuries were not deemed life-threatening.

The SDPD's Traffic Division has taken the helm of the ongoing investigation and is calling for anyone with information that could shed light on the matter to step forward. Witnesses or individuals with relevant knowledge are urged to contact either the investigation command unit or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
