All Aboard for Fun as Kennesaw's Railroad Rendezvous Set to Enthrall at Southern Museum This JulySource: City of Kennesaw

Attention train enthusiasts and history buffs! Kennesaw's beloved Railroad Rendezvous event is on track to return to the Southern Museum of Civil War & Locomotive History this summer. Slated for July 20, the museum promises a day filled with various transportation-themed activities and displays – and not just for the rail fans.

An announcement by the City of Kennesaw describes the event highlights, which include an antique car showcase, blacksmithing and ham radio demonstrations, among others. Families can get hands-on, with a children’s area that explores railroad jobs and, an interactive typewriter display.

One of the day's highlights will be the "Board the General Experience", offering a chance to climb aboard the iconic General locomotive, centerpiece of the infamous Great Locomotive Chase of 1862, as per the City of Kennesaw. Tickets for this immersive piece of history will cost just $5 per person, with the youngest attendees – two and under – hopping on for free. All proceeds will benefit the Kennesaw Museum Foundation.

General admission to the Railroad Rendezvous covers most events, with tickets priced at $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, and $5 for kids. With its Smithsonian Affiliations status, the Southern Museum serves as a hub for conversation and learning about the Civil War era's railroads, their strategic importance and their economic impact. As described on the museum's website, their educational programs and the Jolley Education Center's interactive exhibits aim to bring history to life for visitors of all ages.
