Quick-thinking and adept coordination between various Bay Area police departments led to the arrest of three suspects following a carjacking incident in Alameda. According to the Alameda Police Department, the drama unfolded on Wednesday afternoon when two individuals reportedly forced the victims out of their vehicle at gunpoint on the 2800 block of Central Avenue, a third suspect waiting in another car.

Detectives utilized technology to track the stolen vehicle's movements. At the same time, the Oakland Police Department’s helicopter provided air support, ultimately allowing officers to maintain visibility on the car as it sped toward San Francisco. The swift collaboration between the Alameda and San Francisco Police Departments resulted in a foot chase in San Francisco after suspects lost control of the vehicle. The San Francisco Police were notified and assisted on the ground, while officers from Alameda converged on the city to assist in the arrest.

The interdepartmental effort culminated with the establishment of a perimeter, the detention of the suspects, and the recovery of the stolen car and a firearm. "Their assistance helped us recover the stolen car, arrest those identified as being involved, and recover a firearm within one hour of the crime", the Alameda Police Department acknowledged, expressing gratitude to their colleagues in Oakland and San Francisco for their aid.

The Alameda Police continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the alarming carjacking and encourage anyone with further information to contact them at 510-337-8340.
