Body Found by Construction Workers in Fort Bend County Ditch Sparks Investigation into Suspected Hit-and-RunSource: Google Street View

Construction workers in Fort Bend County made a grisly discovery Tuesday afternoon when they stumbled upon a body in a ditch. The Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office responded to the call around 1:15 p.m. from the site localized in the 6900 block of FM 361, according to Click2Houston. The area is marked by rural stretches between the towns of Rosenberg and Needville.

Initial findings from the scene suggested that the individual, whose identity remains to be publically disclosed, may have been the victim of a hit-and-run accident. A bike, found near the lifeless form, alongside vehicle debris, hinted at the violent encounter that likely sent this person into the drainage ditch where they were found. FOX 26 Houston reported that this early assessment by Fort Bend County officials, however, remains to be confirmed as more information surfaces.

The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office reassured the public, stating, "We are conducting a death investigation at this location where a body was discovered in a drainage ditch by construction workers. Preliminary information from the investigation suggests the decedent may have been a victim of an autoped accident. A bicycle was located nearby as well as debris from a motor vehicle. As more information becomes available, we will advise. The scene remains active at this time." As more information becomes available, updates are to surely follow. In these early stages, the authorities are calling on the public to assist by providing any information that could potentially help piece together the final moments of the victim's life.
