Boston Police Department officers from District B-3, alongside members of the Boston Fire Department, were recently honored for their life-saving efforts during a community event last year, where a well-known activist faced a dire medical emergency, as reported by the official BPD News.

The officers and fire personnel were awarded the Everyday Hero Awards by Zoll Medical Corporation, a local Massachusetts company recognized for their life-saving medical devices, such as the Automated External Defibrillator (AED) utilized by the first responders to save community activist Myrtle Huggins when she suffered a cardiac episode at the Apple Grove Community Meeting in October 2023. The awards ceremony marked their bravery and quick action.

As part of the recognition, Zoll Medical also donated an AED in Myrtle Huggins' honor to her chosen charity, the Charles Street AME Church, a donation that not only acknowledges Huggin's contribution to the community but also aims to equip the institution with the means to potentially save more lives in the future.
