Boston Police Arrest 21-Year-Old Man, Takari Hokett, for Unlawful Firearm Possession After Disturbance in RoxburySource: Boston Police Department

In the early hours of Thursday, a disturbance in Roxbury led to the arrest of a 21-year-old man, identified as Takari Hokett, after Boston Police recovered a firearm. According to the Boston Police Department, officers responded around 1:30 AM to a 911 call reporting gunshots near 58 Circuit St.

The responding officers encountered a sizable gathering on Regent St., people were drinking alcohol, playing loud music, and exhibiting disorderly behavior. It was during their effort to manage the situation, Hokett made an apparent attempt to distance himself from law enforcement, conspicuously holding the front pocket of his sweatshirt. Following a brief investigation, police discovered a black Keltec P-40 firearm in Hokett's possession.

Further examination of the weapon by B-2 Detectives revealed it to be loaded with six .40 caliber rounds, though no round was found chambered. Notably, the firearm's serial number had been obliterated, raising additional concerns about its origins and potential use in criminal activities. Takari Hokett now faces several charges, including unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, possessing a loaded firearm, obliterating a firearm's serial number, as well as public intoxication and drinking in public.

Hokett is expected to face these allegations in the Roxbury District Court. This incident underscores ongoing issues of gun violence and public safety, particularly concerning for residents in urban communities like Roxbury. The swift response by officers of District B-2, has at least for now, removed one more weapon from potentially endangering the community.
