CenterPoint Energy Announces Gas Infrastructure Upgrades in Webber-Camden, Parking Restrictions to FollowSource: CenterPoint Energy - Minnesota

Webber-Camden neighborhood residents can expect to see crews from Michels Utility Services, an authorized contractor for CenterPoint Energy, preparing to make infrastructure enhancements next week. According to an update from CenterPoint Energy, the construction work is set to begin the installation of new gas mains on Monday, July 1. Commencing from Dowling Avenue N. and progressing northward to 42nd Avenue N., the operation will initially roll out along the even-numbered side of Humboldt Avenue N. and Girard Avenue N., with an aim to complete within a span of two weeks.

Residents should note, that as equipment starts arriving as early as Friday, June 28, the presence of spray paint or utility flags will become a familiar sight before the work begins—each color designating a different type of public underground utility. While the project unfolds, the sidewalks and parking on the side where installation occurs will be closed, said CenterPoint Energy in a statement. Although parking is restricted on both sides of Humboldt Avenue N. from Dowling Avenue N. to 42nd Avenue N., the west side faces Washburn-McReavy Crystal Lake Funeral Chapel and Cemetery and is an exception.

The upgrade to the natural gas infrastructure promises efficiency and reliability without any planned interruption to gas service during the main installation phase. The information released indicated no specific dates yet, but following the main work completion, Emerson Avenue N. will be the next site for improvements. CenterPoint Energy will share additional information on the next phase closer to the scheduled time.

Subsequent to the primary line work, homeowners can expect visits by appointment from a second Michels Corporation crew tasked with transitioning indoor meters outside and reconnecting service lines to the new gas mains. In a bid to keep the community informed and address any queries during the upgrade, CenterPoint Energy encourages reaching out through their website or via their Communication Specialist, Hannah Gullickson, at 612-321-5546 or [email protected]. The utility provider thanks residents for their patience during these improvements.
