A Dallas, Oregon man has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole after a Polk County jury found him guilty on multiple counts of child sex crimes. KPTV reports that Travis Michael Boatright, 38, was convicted of sexually assaulting three children, leading to his mandatory life sentence under Oregon law, which dictates such a sentence for those convicted of multiple major sex crimes.

After less than an hour of deliberation, the jury reached a unanimous verdict on June 18, 2024, convicting Boatright on three counts of first-degree rape, two counts of first-degree sodomy, and five counts of first-degree sexual abuse, as well as five counts of second-degree rape. Boatright was also found guilty of using a child in a display of sexually explicit conduct luring a minor and solicitation for hindering prosecution, according to KATU.

These severe charges emerged from an investigation led by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office and the Oregon State Police. Deputy District Attorney Erin Brady oversaw the prosecution, as The Polk County Itemizer-Observer detailed in their coverage of the case.

Polk County Circuit Judge Monte Campbell sentenced Boatright yesterday, stating a direct and resolute end to a saga that has undoubtedly cast a long shadow over the lives of the victims and their communities. It was declared that he would be ineligible for early release or any reduction in sentence, ensuring that Travis Michael Boatright will remain behind bars for the remainder of his life as a consequence of his actions.
