Dorchester Duo Arrested, Charged with Firearms and Narcotics Trafficking in Multi-County InvestigationSource: Massachusetts State Police

On June 11, 2024, a significant law enforcement operation led to the capture of two suspects involved in narcotics trafficking across Suffolk, Norfolk, and Plymouth Counties. The Commonwealth Interstate Narcotics Reduction Enforcement Team (CINRET), after a months-long investigation, arrested Jermiah Boswell and Dawnelle Stafford in Dorchester. Investigators, engaged in thorough surveillance and intelligence analysis, had gathered enough evidence to procure warrants for searches of Boswell's residence and vehicle.

According to a press release from MSP News, the arrest unfolded when officers trailed Boswell after he left his home and proceeded to stop his vehicle. Both Boswell and Stafford were subsequently brought back to the residence, where officers executed a "knock and announce" search warrant. This search culminated in the discovery and seizure of five loaded firearms – including a rifle, four high-capacity magazines, a sizeable stash of ammunition, counterfeit oxycodone pills containing fentanyl, methamphetamine, and an undisclosed sum of cash. Authorities noted that two of the firearms lacked serial numbers, signaling a deeper layer of criminal intent and complexity.

Boswell, 24, and Stafford, 30, were booked at SP-Milton Barracks where they underwent standard booking procedures. The duo faced arraignment at Dorchester District Court on charges encompassing the unlawful possession of firearms, high-capacity feeding devices, and ammunition. Boswell received additional charges for his role in the distribution of fentanyl and methamphetamine.

The collaborative enforcement effort, as stated in the MSP News release, involved CINRET-South, the Suffolk County State Police Detective Unit, the MSP Gang Unit, MSP STOP, the Office of the Attorney General, and several local police departments, along with Homeland Security Investigations. This spectrum of agencies highlights the expansive network required to effectively tackle and augment the challenges posed by narcotics trafficking and the illegal arms trade.
