Duluth Police Arrest Two Suspects for the Murder of Chantel Moose, Third Suspect from Duluth Still at LargeSource: City of Duluth, Minnesota

The Duluth Police Department, in the wake of a grim episode of violence, has announced the arrest of two individuals with a third suspect still at large in connection to the homicide of 25-year-old Chantel Moose. Moose's death on April 12 spurred a thorough investigation that led to the issuance of arrest warrants for three suspects, according to a statement released by the Duluth Police Department.

On Wednesday, June 26, U.S. Marshals arrested 34-year-old Canton, Michigan resident Darrius Plummer, charging him with 2nd Degree Murder Without Intent and assault with a dangerous weapon, the Marshals hold this action on behalf of an arrest warrant issued by the St. Louis County Attorney’s Office. Meanwhile, Kimonte Cadge, 26, from Illinois, was taken into custody previously on May 15 for 2nd Degree Assault with a Dangerous Weapon. As the investigation continues, authorities are still pursuing 26-year-old Duluth resident Trayvon Walters, who faces a similar assault charge, but no arrest has been made as of the last update.

"Holding these offenders accountable and conducting an extensive and thorough investigation into this tragic homicide was a top priority for our police department," stated Chief Mike Ceynowa. "We hope that the arrest of these three men will bring peace to Chantel, her family, and her loved ones as they are grieving her loss," he added.

Officials have been resolute since the incident, with the Duluth Police Department asserting their commitment to solving the case and Mayor Roger Reinert deeming any loss of life due to violent crime as "unacceptable", according to official statements made following the homicide. The Mayor reassured the community that all available resources would be used to hold those responsible accountable. In the wake of the violence, the police department has heightened their safety efforts downtown, which they reported resulted in a 53% reduction in violent crime from the last quarter of 2022 to the same period in 2023.
