A fatal crash in Santa Rosa last week claimed the life of a driver after a collision at the intersection of Stony Point Road and Millbrae Avenue. The incident, involving a 2020 Nissan Altima and a 2015 Fiat 500, occurred late last Friday, according to the California Highway Patrol Santa Rosa Area office. Reports indicate that the Altima was traveling south on Stony Point Road as the Fiat, headed west on Millbrae Avenue, failed to stop at the intersection’s stop sign, leading to the tragic event.
The aftermath of the collision saw the driver of the Nissan Altima pronounced dead at the scene. The other vehicle’s operator, identified as Charles Philip Rubin, 54, of Sebastopol, was found to be under the influence of controlled substances. Following the crash, Rubin was arrested and charged with Felony DUI, Gross Vehicular Manslaughter while intoxicated, and being under the influence of a controlled substance. The Sonoma County Jail became his temporary residence as legal proceedings commenced.
