Following a rapid turn of events in the case of the attempted homicide investigation, Nacomee Paula Perez handed herself in to the authorities yesterday evening, as per the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office. The 44-year-old Santa Rosa resident, Perez, was on the radar of the Santa Rosa Police Department (SRPD) for allegedly stabbing a female acquaintance multiple times during a heated argument. The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday and left the victim, a 34-year-old Graton resident, with multiple wounds to her upper torso. After friends quickly took her to a local hospital, she is now reported to be stable.
According to the Santa Rosa Police Department’s announcement, Perez was booked on one count of 664/187 PC, which denotes attempted murder, and her bail was set at $1 million. Despite Perez turning herself in, SRPD's Violent Crimes Investigation Team (VCI) detectives actively continue investigating, indicating that this case has yet to unravel fully. The public was previously urged to assist in the search for Perez, and the department remains open to receiving any further information at the VCI Tip Line at 707-543-3590.
In light of the violent nature of the crime, the community had been on high alert. The Santa Rosa Police had described Perez as armed and dangerous when they were still searching for her. In their efforts to locate Perez, the Sonoma County Alliance Community Engagement and Safety Rewards Fund had offered a reward of up to $2,500 for information that would lead to her arrest, as detailed by an earlier Hoodline report.
Authorities continue to urge anyone with knowledge related to this case to reach out. While encouraging community help, they also remind individuals not to engage with suspects and rely on law enforcement to handle such confrontations. The Santa Rosa Police Department expresses gratitude to the Sheriff's Office for their assistance in apprehending Perez and indicates that additional details will be released as the investigation progresses.
