Tragedy struck in north Houston on Friday night when an Uber Eats delivery driver was shot during what appeared to be an attempted robbery. According to Click2Houston, the man in his mid-30s was attacked around 10 p.m. on the 16200 block of Imperial Valley.
Officers from the Houston Police Department responded to the distressing scene, finding the victim with a gunshot wound to the chest. The shooting occurred with the man's family present, as his wife and child waited in their vehicle during the food delivery. After being shot, the victim was able to return to his car and drive a short way before officers intervened and applied a chest seal to prevent further injury.
Further details from a separate Houston Police post confirmed the shooting and indicated that the victim was transported to a hospital in stable condition. As of now, the authorities consider the incident to be a robbery or carjacking attempt gone violent, though the exact motive is still under investigation.
