Mayor Rebecca Jones Opens New Bradley Bike Park in San Marcos Amid Community Effort and CelebrationSource: City of San Marcos

San Marcos has significantly enhanced its appeal with the inauguration of a new bike park, marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Mayor Rebecca Jones. This 3.4-acre facility, located at 1587 Linda Vista Drive within the southeastern section of Bradley Park, was developed through the collaborative efforts of the San Diego Mountain Biking Association, Friends of San Marcos Parks and Recreation, and the local community.

The project was made possible through substantial funding from the California State Department of Parks and Recreation Prop 68 Per Capita grant, contributions from the County of San Diego District 5 Neighborhood Reinvestment Program grant funds, and donations from the Friends of San Marcos Parks and Recreation and the San Diego Mountain Biking Association. This collective effort involved city officials, local bikers, families, and children, showcasing a true community initiative.

"The opening of Bradley Bike Park is in direct response to public input and emphasizes our effort to enhance recreational activities in San Marcos to encourage community members to participate in healthy physical adventures," Mayor Jones stated, as per the City of San Marcos. The bike park features five jump lines catering to riders of all skill levels and a pump track designed with intricate curves.

The grand opening event included professional bikers performing aerial stunts and open riding sessions for attendees eager to experience the new facility. Susie Murphy from the San Diego Mountain Biking Association commended the city, stating, per the City of San Marcos, "The community has needed something like this for some time and we applaud the City of San Marcos on their accomplishment of building a world-class bike park."

Local bike shops participated in the event, providing information, bike demonstrations, and opportunities to win new bicycles. The bike park is open from Tuesday to Sunday, 10 a.m. to sunset.
