The Memphis Grizzlies have officially welcomed their 2024 NBA Draft picks, a move that's set to fortify the team's roster with both height and sharpshooting abilities. At the introduction ceremony on Friday, the towering 7-foot-4 center, Zach Edey, joined the team alongside guard Jaylen Wells and fellow sharpshooter Cam Spencer, as reported by Action News 5. General Manager Zach Kleiman and Head Coach Taylor Jenkins expressed their faith in the newcomers, emphasizing the Grizzlies' focus on players who are not just talented in the game, but also carry a winning attitude.

During the media event, Edey, the former Purdue star and two-time National Player of the Year, was highlighted for his anticipated contribution in the starting center position. Jenkins, referring to the draft picks, said, "When you look at all three of these men they’re winners, that’s the thing that we’ve constantly tried to prioritize the makeup of not just the player, but the person," as noted by WREG. Bringing in Edey has been part of the Grizzlies' plan for some time, with the center recalling how the team believed in him early in his college career, "They were the only team that believed in me and wanted to give me a deal after my sophomore year, that’s always kind of resonated with me and stuck with me," Edey told WREG.

Wells, chosen 39th overall from Washington State, and Spencer, from UConn, are expected to enhance the team's perimeter shooting capabilities. The draftees, both represented by the same agency, also share a competitive history, having faced off in their final collegiate game. Despite Spencer's Huskies leaving as national champions over Edey's Boilermakers, the pair look forward to a cohesive future. "There's a little trash talk there for sure, but we're two competitive guys and, I think I have a ton of respect for him and the career that he had at Purdue," Spencer commented in an interview with WREG.

After experiencing a whirlwind journey to the NBA filled with unexpected moments and emotions, the players are eager to integrate with their new team and learn from established veterans, including standout point guard Ja Morant. "Its exciting just being able to play with Ja I think he’s the best point guard in the league and I think to be able to have that pressure offensively to do the thing that he does which makes my life so much easier," Edey shared with WREG. The rookies' energy and potential contributions could play a significant role in the team's bid for success in the upcoming season.
