A hail of gunfire turned a Memphis gas station into a crime scene Thursday night, as a couple found themselves in a barrage of 41 bullets, leaving them fighting for their lives. The Memphis Police Department responded quickly to the shooting at approximately 8:32 p.m. near the airport area, as per a report from Action News 5. The victims, a man and a woman, were rushed to the hospital in critical condition following the attack on Nonconnah Boulevard.

Details surrounding the incident began to unfold when the woman, who managed to escape the targeted onslaught, conveyed that the pair were at a gas station on Millbranch Road when the attackers, driving a black Infiniti, opened fire on their 2018 Porsche Macan. They then proceeded to quickly seek help at a nearby Marriott Courtyard, with the woman suffering from wounds in her hand and back and her boyfriend sustaining multiple gunshot injuries to his back and lower back leg, as recounted by the woman to WREG.com.

The Memphis Police Department has no suspects and described the investigation as ongoing. The severity of the attack is highlighted by MPD’s report that the victim's vehicle was struck 41 times. 

The couple's harrowing experience reached its apex about four miles north of where the attack took place, at the Courtyard by Marriott on Nonconnah Boulevard. It was there, after fleeing the gas station located at Millbranch Road and East Shelby Drive, with the woman realizing she was seriously injured. According to FOX13 Memphis, the black Infinity sedan had indiscriminately peppered the Porsche, leaving the couple to desperately try to escape the barrage of bullets.

The Memphis Police Department continues to urgently search for anyone involved in the shooting. Locals are encouraged to come forward with any information that might assist in apprehending the individuals responsible for such a brazen attack on the city's sense of security.
