After a prolonged city-wide manhunt, Phoenix Police have apprehended 30-year-old Xavier Hughley, the suspect in the west Phoenix murder of Amanda George. Details provided by FOX 10 Phoenix tell us that the deadly incident occurred near 67th Avenue and Osborn Road on March 27, where officers responding to a shooting report discovered George, 43, suffering from a gunshot wound. She succumbed to her injuries after being hospitalized.
Arrested near 31st and Campbell Avenues on June 25, Hughley is now facing charges of first-degree murder and misconduct involving weapons, as per FOX 10 Phoenix. Investigators, working the case since the spring shooting, had identified Hughley as the prime suspect but were unable to locate him immediately. Months after the heartbreaking episode unfolded, the arrest offers a semblance of closure to the case.
Arizona's Family noted that George died over a week after the initial shooting, on April 9. Previously, the mother of the victim, Debra, had expressed her apprehension about Hughley, who had been dating her daughter for only two weeks before the murder. "He had just gotten out of being incarcerated and I told her not, I just had a feeling about him," Debra recounted.
