Last Thursday, a shooting at the intersection of Mission Boulevard and Industrial Boulevard left two teenagers hospitalized, one in critical condition. The Hayward Police Department responded to the scene after reports of the incident surfaced close to midnight.

According to the Hayward Police Department's release, officers arrived after a chilling 9-1-1 call from a 17-year-old male, claiming he and his friend were shot and had escaped the initial location. The two victims, later found on the 100 block of W. Tennyson Road, had indeed been struck by bullets, the police department confirmed. The first, a 17-year-old Pleasanton resident, sustained injuries that, after treatment, facilitated his release from the hospital.

The second victim, just a year older at 18, wasn't as fortunate. Suffering critical injuries from the gunfire, he was taken urgently to a medical facility, where he remains fighting for his life. As of now, no arrests have been made, and the assailant or assailants remain unidentified and at large.

Investigators are also considering links between this shooting and a homicide that occurred just a day prior. Though there is no immediate indication that the incidents are connected, detectives are delving into the possibility as part of the broader quest for answers.
