Three young adults are facing serious charges following a high-stress carjacking incident in Alameda, where a mother and her two small children were victims of an armed robbery. Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price shared the details in a recent announcement that exposed the gravity of the situation and the charges the defendants are up against. Marionna Makia Haley, Isaiah Howard, and Sariyah Barker, all 18 years old, are each staring down the possibility of lengthy prison sentences.

Accused of an alarming act on Wednesday, the trio allegedly engaged in a carjacking while the children, both four years old, were present in the vehicle. DA Price specified in statements the depth of concern for the children's safety, citing, "A gun allegedly being used while children were in the car at the time of this carjacking was dangerous and is absolutely unacceptable in Alameda County", according to a press release from the DA's office. The charges levied against them comprise one count of carjacking and two counts of child abuse. Additionally, Haley is charged with a firearm enhancement, which could significantly increase her sentence if convicted. Howard and Barker are both slapped armed with firearm enhancements, elevating the gravity of their alleged crimes.

The potential consequences of these charges point to a severe response from the justice system. If convicted of all counts, Haley could face a prison term of 20 years and three months, while Howard and Barker could each be subject to 11 years and 3 months behind bars.
