A discovery that has prompted an investigation emerged from Houston's westside over the weekend, as local authorities recovered a body found in a waterway. The Houston Police Department, along with the Harris County Precinct 5 Constable's Office, responded to the scene on Saturday evening following reports of the grim find.

According to the Houston Chronicle, the body was located in a narrow waterway in the Eldridge/West Oaks neighborhood near South Highway 6 and Noble Road. Units, including HPD divers were dispatched to the area around 6:30 p.m., and all officials were reportedly cleared from the site by 9 p.m. the same evening. Little information regarding the nature of the person's death or the duration for which the body had been in the water is available to the public at this time.

Simultaneously, the ABC 13 reported a body was also discovered in a bayou off of 1704 South Highway 6 near Barker Oaks Drive. The HPD dive team received the call around the same time, pointing to a potentially connected incident. These simultaneous reports indicate a single event rather than separate occurrences.

The investigation is currently underway by the Precinct 5 deputies. The identity of the deceased has not been released, and neither have details surrounding the cause of death, officials say the investigation is active, and more information will be disclosed as it becomes available.
