Minneapolis Police are actively investigating a homicide that occurred on the night of June 28th, the department responded to reports of a shooting in North Minneapolis. According to the department's latest press release, officers from the 4th Precinct were dispatched to the 3500 block of Penn Avenue North at about 10:55 p.m., where they found a man in his 50s with life-threatening gunshot wounds sitting in a vehicle. Police administered immediate medical attention until EMS and Fire personnel took over, but despite their efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office is expected to release the victim's identity, as well as the exact cause and manner of the death, at a later time. Meanwhile, MPD Forensic Scientists have thoroughly processed the crime scene to gather any possible evidence. As the authorities work to quickly establish the details that led up to the fatal shooting, no arrests have yet been made.

MPD encourages anyone with information regarding this crime to come forward. In their bulletin, they stated, "Anyone with information is encouraged to call CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477)." Tips can also be submitted electronically, and are kept anonymous. Those providing details leading to an arrest and conviction may be eligible for a financial reward.
