While we don't report on every crime, we do our best to keep you informed of major crimes and safety concerns in the neighborhood. Here's a selection of crimes reported around SoMa over the past month. All details are pulled from the SFPD's daily crime recaps, unless otherwise noted.

Stabbings

A 54-year-old man was was stabbed following an altercation around 11am April 20th at Folsom and Sherman—causing SFPD to close Victoria Manalo Draves park for several hours while investigating the assault. Three suspects, men ages 45-50, were in a physical fight with the victim, when one stabbed him in the chest and the armpit area. All three suspects then walked away, but were later apprehended by police.

Life-Threatening Hit-And-Run

As we previously reported, bystanders helped detain a suspect in a hit-and-run, April 20th on the 1200 block of Mission Street, that resulted in one victim sustaining life-threatening injuries.

Hot Prowls

An 18-20 year-old women attempted to force entry into a home on the 1300 block of Stevenson Street at 9pm on April 15th. The resident was home and heard noises on her back porch. She then saw the suspect's fingers in a hole in the door, trying to open it. The suspect fled on foot in an unknown direction.

A vehicle was stolen from a residence on the 100 block of Elgin Park following a home invasion around 10:30pm April 15th. The victim, whose roommate was out of town, saw a light go off in the home. The next morning, he found that his roommates’ 2002 Acura MDX was missing. He also found the door unlocked, drawers rummaged through and possible prints on the back window.

A home on the 500 block of Howard Street was robbed around 10:30am April 2nd while the resident was home. The suspect, a 30-35 year-old man, climbed down a ladder and into the victim's laundry room window. The victim locked himself in his bedroom while the suspect took items then fled.

Robbery

At 10:30pm April 16th, a 41-year-old man was attacked by two suspects after exiting his residence on the 100 block of Russ Street. As the victim exited his outer gate and stepped onto the sidewalk, the suspects immediately punched him several times. The victim lost consciousness and awoke to find his property missing.

A 67-year-old man was attacked and robbed at 5pm April 16th after exiting a bus at Second and Main. The victim was walking with his bike when two suspects, 18- to 19-year-old men, approached. The suspects attempted to forcibly take the victim's bike and his backpack, but the victim refused. One suspect then punched the victim in the face, causing him to fall to the ground. Both suspects began kicking the victim while he was on the ground, then fled the scene.

At 9pm April 15th, a verbal altercation between one teenage girl, 14, and three others, 13, turned violent at Sixth and Mission. One suspect punched the victim multiple times in the face. A second suspect then shocked her with a black electronic control device before the third kicked her multiple times in the abdomen while she was on the ground. The suspects then took her phone from her pocket and fled on foot. No arrest was made.

At 2:20am April 11th, a 35-year-old woman was attacked with a knife and robbed. The suspect, an unidentified man, approached and lunged with a knife while demanding her belongings. The victim, who suffered a laceration to the torso, realized she had been injured as the suspect fled.

A 25-year-old man was pushed from behind and robbed at 1:15pm April 6th as he was walking at Ninth and Natoma. The victim and suspect engaged in a struggle before the suspect snatched his mobile phone and fled on foot.

Around 12:30am April 3rd, a 15-year-old boy was attacked and robbed at Fifth and Mission. The victim was walking down the street when two 17-year-old boys. One boy grabbed and held the victim's arm as the other punched him once in the face. The victim fell backward, hit his head on the ground and lost consciousness. The suspects then grabbed his shopping bag containing a pair of sneakers and fled. No arrest was made.

Just before 2am April 2nd, a 26-year-old man was robbed at gunpoint by two male suspects driving a mid 2000s gray Toyota Corolla. The suspects pointed a gun at the victim and forced him to get into their car. They then demanded his wallet at Bryant and Beale. The victim complied, and the suspects fled.

At 9am that day, the manager of a shop on the 200 block of King Street was robbed at knifepoint. The suspect, a 50-year-old man, grabbed several items in store and walked past several staffed registers without paying. When the victim confronted the suspect outside the store, he brandished a knife. SFPD officers later arrived and took the suspect into custody.

A 25-year-old man was robbed by three men after leaving a club on the 100 block of Sixth Street around 12:30pm March 26th. When the victim stepped out of the club, a 28- to 30-year-old man grabbed him, spun him around and threw him to the ground. He then hold the victim down by the shoulders while a second man held  him down by his legs and a third suspect stole property from his pockets. All three then fled, and none were apprehended.

Aggravated Assault

A 20-year-old man was assaulted at 2:40am April 17th on the 900 block of Mission Street. The victim was walking with the suspect, a man in his twenties, when the suspect began kicking the victim in the chest, causing him to fall down. The suspect then began punching and kicking him on the ground. After the victim lost consciousness, the suspect walked to his black Honda and drove it up toward the victim, who was laying in the middle of the street. He double parked, got out of the car and guided the victim onto the sidewalk, leaving him at the side of a building. The suspect then fled the scene in his vehicle.

Hunter Pence-Signed Scooter Returned To Rightful Owner

On a bright note, SFPD investigators arrested three on suspicion of robbing the Make-A-Wish Foundation offices earlier this month. Among the stolen items was a scooter which had previously been auctioned off for $40,000. It was returned to its owner on April 7th at AT&T Park, prior to the Giants' home opener.
