A notice sent to nearby residents last week reveals progress on the reconstruction of 491-499 Haight Street, and plans for the building's future.
The building, of course, was badly damaged in a fire on September 26th, 2011. Since then, the structure has been wrapped in white plastic as crews work on gutting the interior and razing the top floor. According to the notice, the current plans for the building involve:

- Expanding existing retail (Walgreens) by 453 square feet
- Eliminating one of three entry storefronts on Fillmore Street
- Expanding existing stairs and adding new decks on the second and third floors into the rear yard
