New Mural at The Red House
When you're looking at the Haight Street Market, look up and to the right. The Jimi Hendrix mural on the west side of the abutting house above HSM's roof has gotten a refresher.

Artists Ernest Doty, Max Ehrman, and Sean Griffin repainted the mural in anticipation of the Summer of Love's 50th anniversary in 2017. But also because, according to Sean Griffin, "It is a great honor to have had the opportunity to paint a piece inspired by and dedicated to Jimi Hendrix, with fellow artists in such a great location. We felt it was important to try and capture Jimi’s essence and keep his electricity alive in such a historic and intergalactic place like the Upper Haight." You can read more about it at Fog City Journal. Why that house? For the uninitiated, it was the inspiration for Hendrix's "The Red House," recorded in 1966.
