No, Pizzeria Delfina Is Not Coming To Hayes Valley
A minor mystery hit Gough Street in recent days, as signs appeared indicating that a new outpost of Pizzeria Delfina would soon be arriving.

The signs were pasted onto the plywood wall surrounding the construction site at 300 Ivy:
On one sign, the words "PIZZERIA DELFINA DECEMBER 2013" are hidden amongst several repetitions of the phrase "THIS STUFF IS GOOD FOR YOU". Another declares "WE WANT YOU" and includes an email address for aspiring Delfina employees. Several readers asked us about the signs, wondering if Delfina would in fact be moving to the location. However, a few clues indicate otherwise. First, December 2013 is well behind us. Second, the construction site will actually be home to a restaurant called Monsieur Benjamin. So, what's up with these signs? Are they just someone's random art project? To solve this mystery, we checked in with Craig Stoll, co-owner of Pizzeria Delfina. "As much as I've always loved Hayes valley, we currently don't have any plans to open anything there," Craig told us. Craig was as baffled by the signs as we were at first, but after doing some investigating, he figured out what was happening. "We realized our contractors are reusing the plywood from our Burlingame temporary facade for their other jobs." Yes, Delfina opened a location in Burlingame in December of 2013, and apparently the plywood from that project has made its way to Hayes Valley. So, long story short: no Delfina for us, at least not any time soon. We'll see you at Patxi's.
