New Chinese Restaurant Coming To Lower HaightPhoto: Andrew Dudley / Hoodline
Tandoor closed just a couple of weeks ago, but a new restaurant is already prepping to move into 525 Haight.

A recent business filing reveals that an entity called Ming Yao H Chinese Restaurant is slated to open at the address. Does this have anything to do with retired basketball star Yao Ming? Probably not. (Although he does own a winery in Napa ... )

Crews could be seen working inside of 525 Haight this week, presumably starting to convert the former Tandoor space into Ming Yao. We're working to get in touch with the new owner to find out more about his plans.

Ming Yao (which may or may not end up being its actual name) will be situated between Sushi 509 and Raijin Sushi, and across the street from popular Chinese restaurant Wonderland, not to mention the upcoming Korean fusion joint Nara. Throw in Sushi Raw and House of Thai 2 just a block west and east, respectively, and the Lower Haight is seeing something of an East Asian restaurant boom.
