On Friday night, four young men were killed in an apparent drive-by shooting in Hayes Valley. In the wake of the violence, a prayer vigil and march have been planned for the evening.
The event is organized by Supervisor London Breed in partnership with a group called "Healing for Our Families & Our Nation." According to aide Vallie Brown, Breed "has reached out to the families of the victims and is connecting them with City resources & grief counseling."
On Monday morning, the SF Medical Examiner's office released the identities of the four victims. They were Yalani Chinyamurindi, 19, of San Francisco; Harith Atchan, 21, of San Francisco; David Saucier, 20, of Antioch; and Manuel O’Neal, 22, no permanent city of residence.
SFPD has increased police presence in Hayes Valley and throughout the Western Addition, said Brown, including undercover officers and the SFPD gang task force. "Chief Suhr is using all of his resources to address any retaliatory violence," she said in an email.
