Garage Fire Breaks Out Overnight At 75 PiercePhoto: Rose Garrett/Hoodline

Shortly before midnight last night, a fire broke out in the garage of the building at 75 Pierce St., just north of Duboce Park.

The fire was quickly contained, and a visit to the site this morning saw the garage boarded up, with burnt refuse piled on the sidewalk.

We spoke with homeowner John, who said that the fire was contained to the garage, and that the upper floors were not affected, aside from some smoke damage. There were no injuries.

John said the SFFD told him they suspected an electrical problem to be the source of the fire, possibly to do with a battery charger. The house was in the process of being repainted at the time of the fire; John said he was just glad the damage wasn't any more serious.
