If you've looking for sandwiches and smoothies, a recent opening is need-to-know. Located at 6640 Carmel Road, the new addition is called Tropical Smoothie Cafe.

This is the latest outpost in Charlotte for the national chain, based in Florida. It has several other locations in the city, including one in Myers Park.

The fast-casual spot specializes in smoothies, as well as light breakfast and lunch fare such as flatbreads, bowls and sandwiches. Look for options like the "Super Island Green" smoothie with spinach, kale, mango and moringa; the chicken pesto flatbread with parmesan and mozzarella; and a hummus vegetarian bowl with smashed avocado and asparagus. The new arrival has made a good impression thus far, with a 4-star rating out of seven reviews on Yelp.

Laurie W., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on March 15, said, "Absolutely wonderful! The staff is friendly and super fast. The food is great and the smoothies are healthy, fresh, and taste out-of-this-world good! Great colorful atmosphere."

And Tori H. said, "Nice employees here. They are very fast even when they are busy. I've gotten the sunshine smoothie a couple of times and it is so refreshing and good. Highly recommend grabbing a smoothie on a hot day."
