In search of a new favorite Mediterranean spot?

Hoodline crunched the numbers to find the top Mediterranean spots around Charlotte, using both Yelp data and our own secret sauce to produce a ranked list of the best spots to fulfill your urges.

1. Siggy's Good Food

Topping the list is Siggy's Good Food. Located at 1001 Belmont Ave. in Belmont, the Mediterranean spot, which offers sandwiches, juices and more, is the highest rated Mediterranean restaurant in Charlotte, boasting 4.5 stars out of 497 reviews on Yelp.

Siggy’s Good Food specializes in comfort food. Look for salads, sandwiches, vegetable, meats and more, all prepared Mediterranean-style. Options include the steak sandwich with organic, grass-fed beef marinated in rosemary with sauteed mushrooms, onions, tomato, baby greens and vegan mayo, and the Greek Style Quinoa Avocado Salad with avocado, kalamata olives, cucumbers, quinoa, feta, baby greens and lemon vinaigrette. Yelper Matthew W. wrote, "Quite possibly the best sandwich in Charlotte. You will wait a bit for this sandwich and it'll run you about $10, but boy was it good. I did the chicken and steak sandwiches and I was blown away. Owner and chef, Siggy, does a great job of incorporating Latin flavors into his food."   

2. Jasmine Grill

Next up is Madison Park's Jasmine Grill, situated at 5033 South Blvd., Suite G. With 4.5 stars out of 489 reviews on Yelp, the Mediterranean, Middle Eastern and halal spot has proven to be a local favorite.

This spot's menu includes pitas, salads and more. Jasmine Grill also offers shawarma and kebab sandwiches for dine-in eating or carry out. Vegetarian options are available. Dishes include the Kofta kebab with ground beef and lamb served with rice and one side, or the falafel wrap with fries.

Yelper Angie L., who reviewed it on Oct. 12, said, "We were looking for some quick, healthy food and this place was perfect! I got a lovely little falafel wrap that was super tasty with baba ganoush on the side. Hummus and pita were spot on and the little garlic dip was to die for."

3. Yafo Kitchen

Myers Park's Yafo Kitchen, located at 720 Gov Morrison St., Suite 120, is another top choice, with Yelpers giving the Middle Eastern, Mediterranean and Greek spot 4.5 stars out of 408 reviews.

Yafo Kitchen has multiple locations in Charlotte. Expect shawarma-spiced rotisserie chicken, hummus, pickled cauliflower and more. You can also build your own bowl, salad or wrap by picking your spread, toppings, protein and sauce. (Check out full menu offerings here.)

Ruchi M., who reviewed it on Nov. 14, said, "This is a Chipotle-style Mediterranean food option and one of my favorites. I chose to build my own bowl and there were so many options to add to the bowl."

 4. Greco Fresh Grille

Over in Ballantyne, check out Greco Fresh Grille, which has earned 4.5 stars out of 201 reviews on Yelp. You can find the Greek and Mediterranean spot at 9820 E. Rea Road. Greco Fresh Grille has three locations in the greater Charlotte area.

Look for gyros (both lamb and chicken), Greek salads and more. Options include the falafel pita with lettuce, tomato, red onion and tzatziki sauce; the lamb burger with lettuce, tomato and tzatziki; and the Mezze platter with three spinach pies, three dolmades, tzatziki, feta, olives, hummus and pita bread. Javier L. wrote, "Great chicken gyro, great fries and friendly people at the register. The tzatziki sauce is great and everything tastes fresh and delicious. Awesome little spot! I'll definitely be back. No complaints, only compliments."

5. CAVA

Last but not least, there's CAVA, a local favorite with 4.5 stars out of 169 reviews. Stop by 8936 Jm Keynes Blvd. to hit up the Mediterranean spot, which offers salads and more, next time you're in the mood. CAVA is a national chain with several locations across the country. It recently merged with Zoe's Kitchen.

The spot let's you build your own entree, with options being a salad, greens & grains, a grain bowl, soup with pita bread, a large pita or two mini pitas. You then add dips and spreads, a protein, toppings and dressings. It also has some premade entrees. (Take a look at the full menu here.)
