A new bar and bottle shop specializing in cider has debuted in Rockridge. The project of co-founders Olivia Maki and Mike Reis, Redfield Cider Bar & Bottle Shop is located at 5815 College Ave.

On draft, there are 10 craft ciders like Golden State's Save The Gravenstein, a single-variety Gravenstein apple cider made from all Sonoma County apples, and Hidden Star's Cherry Seinfeld, an apple-cherry cider made in San Leandro. Other ciders hail from around the country and the globe, like Shacksbury's Old World (from Vermont) and Peckham's Kingston & Alford (from New Zealand).

Bottled cider and cider flights are also available, and the shop offers several wines and six beers on draft. You can see the current menu here.

To accompany the drinks, customers will find bar bites: cheese and charcuterie boards, dairy- and gluten-free frittatas, salads or a prosciutto sandwich.

Redfield has gotten an enthusiastic response thus far, with a five-star rating out of eight reviews on Yelp.

Brandon B, who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on January 6, was impressed: "Lovely neighborhood cider bar with an incredible selection of ciders (and a sneaky-good beer tap list as well). I'm relatively new to cider and owners Olivia and Mike, along with bartender Monique, were incredibly knowledgeable and friendly in their help navigating the cider draft list."

Yelper Nick F. added, "I love finding a huge variety of interesting ciders, especially the drier and funkier varietals from England and Spain. I had the Oliver's cider, which I had heard great things about but couldn't track down until finding it at Redfield."

Head on over to check it out: Redfield Cider Bar & Bottle Shop is open from noon–11 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and noon–midnight on Friday and Saturday.
