The number of crime incidents in Vallejo saw an overall increase last week, after a previous decline, according to data from SpotCrime, which collects data from police agencies and validated sources. Incidents rose to 86 for the week of March 11, up from 80 the week before.

The specific offenses that increased the most were burglary and robbery. Burglary rose to 30 incidents last week, from 22 the week before. Robbery went from five to eight. Reports of robbery have continued to grow for the last three weeks.

While a somewhat smaller category, there was also a notable percentage increase in assault, from 10 incidents per week to 12.

Among the few types of offenses that saw a downturn last week, reports of vandalism went from 10 to three, and theft fell from 25 to 19.

There were 14 reports of "other" crimes, an increase of seven from the previous week. SpotCrime's broad "other" category includes a variety of offenses like fraud, trespassing, public disturbance and traffic violations. Of those incidents, four involved arrests, such as for drug possession, up from three reported arrests the week before.

As far as where crime is concentrated in the city, Saint Vincents Hill Historic District and Vallejo Heights continued to have the most reported incidents last week.

Vallejo Heights saw the largest increase.

Regarding day and time factors, Fridays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays produced the most crime incidents last week. The largest increase from the previous week occurred on Wednesdays, Tuesdays and Saturdays, while incidents on Thursdays, Mondays and Fridays went down. Comparing times of day, late morning, evening and early afternoon saw the most crime last week.
