This Sunday's Haight Ashbury Street Fair: what you need to know

This Sunday, June 9 marks the 42nd annual Haight Ashbury Street Fair, the neighborhood's annual gathering for live music, crafts, food, and family activities.

An estimated 80,000 people will take part in the neighborhood festivities, according to the SFPD, so we recommend planning ahead. Here's what to expect.

Traffic and transit

Haight Street will be closed from Masonic to Stanyan streets from 3 a.m. - 9 p.m. on Sunday, with no vehicle access or parking on Haight Street, as pictured below. Access to cross streets on the blocks from Page to Haight streets and Haight to Waller streets will also be limited.

We recommend residents park well in advance, and not count on being able to get onto affected blocks until after the fair concludes.

Due to the street closure, Muni stops will be moved for the duration, with the 7-Haight line moving to Oak and Fell streets, and the 33-Ashbury/18th, 37-Corbett, and 43-Masonic lines moving to Waller and Frederick streets.

Festivities, vendors, offerings

This year's street fair will feature two stages for live music, at Masonic and Stanyan streets, respectively.

The more than 120 booths set up for the day will offer crafts, services, food stalls, artists, and merchants. San Francisco Heritage will also have a booth to share information on their recently acquired property, the Doolan-Larson building at Haight and Ashbury, which is set to become a "museum for counterculture."

The annual Children's Alley will provide a dedicated space for youth and family-oriented activities.

Alternatives

Expect neighborhood bars to be packed all day long. If you want to plan ahead for a park day and take advantage of the Panhandle or inner Golden Gate Park, stake your claim early — adjacent parks will see spillover from the fair all day long.

The fair's official hours are 9 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.; cleaning crews typically sweep through promptly afterward, to clear the street and allow vendors to do breakdown and removal. Parking and traffic limits are technically in place until 9 p.m., but may clear sooner.
