San Jose-based drones company Aerones has secured $3 million in seed funding, according to company database Crunchbase, topping the city’s recent funding headlines. The cash infusion was announced August 5 and financed by InnoEnergy.
According to its Crunchbase profile, "We are building heavy lifting drones which can lift up to 200kg (440lb). We have a version which is flying on batteries for rescue and delivery purposes and a tethered solution for industrial cleaning and firefighting."
The five-year-old startup has raised two previous funding rounds, including a $120,000 seed round in 2018.
The round brings total funding raised by San Jose companies in consumer electronics over the past month to $58 million. The local consumer electronics industry has seen 16 funding rounds over the past year, capturing a total of $224 million in venture funding.
In other local funding news, cloud data services and embedded systems company Sibros announced a $2.5 million seed funding round on July 25.
According to Crunchbase, "Sibros enables a 360-degree view of vehicle data and improved vehicle life cycle management by providing a secure cloud and on-vehicle system capable of end-to-end OTA software updates and data recording, fleet management, AI-powered analytics and work order management."
The company also raised a $1 million pre-seed round in 2018.
