Cuia Acai & Positive Food makes SoMa debutPhoto: Cuia Acai & Positive Food/Yelp

Acai bowl fans, listen up: there's a new spot in town to get your fix. The addition to SoMa, Cuia Acai & Positive Food, is at 1 Market Plaza.

Cuia Acai & Positive Food's offerings are based on traditional Brazilian recipes, using only pure açai imported from Brazil. The brainchild of two Brazilian entrepreneurs, the eatery offers four different acai dishes, as well as an acai-based smoothie.

The restaurant serves its dishes in either a paper cup, or a bowl made from the dried tips of palm leaves, a version of the traditional Brazilian "cuia" from which the restaurant gets its name.

With a five-star rating out of six reviews on Yelp so far, Cuia Acai & Positive Food has made a strong impression.

Edward F., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on September 28, wrote, "I was blown away at how amazing the food from Cuia Acai is! I ordered a smoothie with strawberry and banana and probiotic and it tasted amazing. The way the orders are formatted is super cool."

Yelper Matt B. added, “Since visiting Rio, I've been looking for a place in the Bay Area that serves acai the way it tastes in Brazil — and I finally found it. Cuia's acai tastes super fresh and all their ingredients are high-quality.”

Intrigued? Stop in to try it for yourself. Cuia Acai & Positive Food is open from 7:30 a.m.–6 p.m. on weekdays. (It's closed on weekends.)
