San Francisco's software industry is raking in new investment, with 63 local companies raising money. New funding rounds were recently announced by software ventures GitLab, Kenna Security, Beyond Pricing and Sentry, according to company database Crunchbase.

GitLab topped the city's recent funding headlines by announcing a $268 million Series E round on Sept. 12, led by Goldman Sachs.

According to its Crunchbase profile, "GitLab is an open-source code collaboration platform that enables developers to create, review and deploy code bases. It is built to run on clients’ infrastructures. The platform includes Git repository management, code reviews, issue tracking, wikis and more, along with a continuous integration and deployment tool called GitLab CI."

The five-year-old company has raised seven previous funding rounds, including a $20 million round in 2018.

Next up, Kenna Security raised $48 million in Series D funding, in a round announced on Sept. 30 and led by Sorenson Capital.

According to Crunchbase, "Kenna Security is a leader in predictive cyber risk. The Kenna Security Platform enables organizations to work cross-functionally to determine and remediate cyber risks. Kenna leverages Cyber Risk Context Technology to track and predict real-world exploitations, focusing security teams on what matters most."

Founded in 2010, the company has raised five previous rounds, including a $25 million Series C round in 2018.

Meanwhile, Beyond Pricing raised $42 million in Series A funding, announced on Sept. 26. The round's investors were led by Bessemer Venture Partners.

Their software integrates with leading listing sites like Airbnb and VRBO, as well as the largest property management systems like HomeAway Software and Streamline, allowing property owners and managers to harness their big data machine learning algorithms to automatically adjust and update their prices everywhere they list."

Beyond Pricing last raised $2 million in funding in 2016.

Rounding out the city's top local funding events, web apps company Sentry raised $40 million in Series C funding, announced on Sept. 24 and led by Accel.

From Crunchbase: "Sentry is an open-source platform for workflow productivity, aggregating data from errors and crashes across the stack in real time. A half-million developers use Sentry to get all the code-level context they need to efficiently resolve issues at every stage of the application lifecycle. Sentry’s cloud service supports more than 9,000 customers, monitoring tens of billions of exceptions every month from the most popular apps and websites, including Airbnb, PayPal, Twitter, Microsoft, Uber, Pinterest, HubSpot and The New York Times."

The company previously raised $16 million in Series B funding in 2018.

Across the industry, San Francisco-based software companies have raised $2.4 billion in venture funding over the past month, and $21 billion over the past year.
