The family of Banko Brown, who was fatally shot by a security guard following an alleged shoplifting incident in late April at a San Francisco Walgreens, is now suing the store, private security firm, and the individual guard. Renowned civil rights attorney John Burris has filed the lawsuit against Walgreens, Kingdom Group Protective Services, and Michael Earl-Wayne Anthony, on the grounds that Anthony was "emotionally unsuited" to be armed, leading to the unnecessary death of 24-year-old Brown. Walgreens has since severed ties with Kingdom Group. The lawsuit has been filed on behalf of Brown's parents, Kevinisha Henderson and Terry Brown, with damages yet to be disclosed.
