At a recent San Francisco town-hall meeting, the SFPD released body-camera and surveillance footage of the fatal police shooting of 40-year-old burglary suspect Sergio Barrios, along with the identity of the officer who shot him, Gregory Buhagiar. The town hall also revealed SFPD Chief Bill Scott confirmed that District Attorney Brooke Jenkins will be investigating the "legality of the shooting," setting up yet another potential political battle over police-involved shootings. The footage shows a three-hour standoff where Barrios seemingly ingests substances and refuses to cooperate with hostage negotiators before attempting to pick up a gun off the ground, prompting officers to respond with force.
