One of the estimated 300-400 wolverines left in the contiguous United States has been making appearances in Yosemite and the Sierras, marking only the second sighting of a wolverine in California in the last century. The last sighting was in 2018, leading wildlife specialists to believe that this is a different wolverine. Wolverines are a threatened species, and this rare sighting has generated excitement among conservationists and California's Department of Fish and Wildlife.
