San Diego Humane Society Waives Adoption Fees to Alleviate Shelter OvercrowdingSource: San Diego Humane Society

San Diego is answering the call to tackle its rising animal shelter population with a heartwarming deal. The San Diego Humane Society has decided to waive adoption fees for all adult pets seven months or older, in a bid to encourage people to adopt these furry friends and clear out much-needed shelter space. With more than a thousand animals under their care, the society is hoping to entice locals to help alleviate the overcrowding. "Shelter space is running low — especially for dogs and puppies," the humane society posted on Facebook.

The move comes as shelters across the country strive to find permanent homes for pets in need and make room for the continuous influx of new animals requiring care and shelter. The San Diego Humane Society hopes this promotion will be enough to encourage potential pet owners to adopt quickly. Adopting the shelter does not only add to your family; it also opens up critical space for other animals that currently do not have a place to call home. Potential adopters have been prompted to visit the society's campuses from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. this weekend.

Adoption not only provides an animal with a much-needed home but can also bring a great deal of joy to families. Aside from being waived, the usual fees can now be repurposed for the pet's benefit. "The love of a shelter pet is truly priceless, and adopting... gives you a new companion but opens up shelter space for other animals with nowhere else to go," the humane society explained. Plus, the money saved from fees could be used to spoil new pets with toys and treats.

For more information on the adoption process and available pets, interested participants are directed to visit the Humane Society's website or their premises during the specified weekend hours.
