Boston's Kenmore Square Loses a Seafood Haven as Pescador Set to Close in MarchSource: Pescador Kenmore Official Website

Kenmore Square's dining scene is taking a hit as Pescador, known for its globally influenced seafood, plans to close its doors on March 11. The restaurant, which opened in the fall of 2022, is one of three dining spots in Boston under the New York City-based Blue Ribbon Restaurants group.

The shuttering of Pescador, located at 498 Commonwealth Avenue inside the Hotel Commonwealth, marks the end of a short-lived venture that stood on the foundation of the former Island Creek Oyster Bar. It's still a mystery what will replace the coastal grill, but the other two siblings in the hotel, Blue Ribbon Sushi and Blue Ribbon Brasserie, are not going anywhere.

While Pescador boasted a robust menu and a talented team, chefs Dan Bazzinotti and Keith Pooler are especially renowned. According to the Pescador about page, Chef Dan's culinary adventure in Boston dates back to 2008, with stints at Terra Restaurant in Eataly Boston and BISq Restaurant in Cambridge. Chef Keith, a chef and former owner at Bergamot and chef at Scampo Restaurant, partners with Dan to deliver the restaurant's vision. Their commitment to food and service couldn't save Pescador from its eventual closure.

The demise of Pescador isn't just about saying goodbye to the 195-seat dining room or the 18-seat ceviche bar; it's about losing a place that promised to be a "fun, unique dining and drinking destination for locals and visitors alike." As one restaurant in the competitive Boston culinary market folds, the industry eyes will soon be fixed on the space to see what new concept may take root there.
