Residents of Chicago's 1st District are on high alert after a series of armed robberies were reported, involving multiple suspects targeting individuals on the street. The Chicago Police Department has issued a community alert detailing the crimes, which occurred in the early morning hours of April 16, 2024.

The incidents took place on the 100 block of S. Clark Street between 3:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. and on the 200 block of W. Washington Street at 4:08 a.m. In each instance, victims were approached by several males wielding handguns, who then demanded their personal possessions, and, subsequently fled in a dark-colored sedan.

Described by the Chicago Police Department as African American males between the ages of 15-25, wearing hooded sweatshirts and black jeans or pants, the suspects are at large. Police are utilizing this description in hopes that the public may help in identifying the offenders.

The police urge vigilance and advise those in the area to keep an eye out for suspicious activity, individuals, or vehicles. In an effort to aid potential witnesses and victims, the alert recommends noting any distinct physical features that could help identify the assailants, such as scars, limps, or dental peculiarities. The public is also warned not to engage with the suspects but to instead provide any information to law enforcement officials.

In light of these events, local authorities are seeking the public's cooperation, calling for anyone with information regarding the incidents or suspects involved to come forward.
