In Daly City, the quiet of the neighborhood streets was pierced by the echo of criminality, as the police department's latest crime alert bulletin reports a surge in thefts, including residential and commercial burglaries alongside numerous vehicle thefts. Covering the week of March 25 to 31 indicates a solitary case of residential burglary where thieves made off with over $43,000 worth of belongings, including firearms and jewelry. The front door of the residence on West Moltke Street bore the brunt of the break-in, with a damaged door jamb testifying to the force used to gain entry, according to the Daly City Police Department.

The commercial scene did not fare much better, with a pair of locker thefts at local fitness centers. A Crunch Fitness locker at Serramonte Shopping Center was hit, with the thief taking sunglasses, and a wallet, and later charging expenses to the stolen credit cards. Over at a Planet Fitness on Junipero Serra Boulevard, another locker was broken into, relieving its owner of a haul including a gold bracelet and various personal items, together totaling nearly $3,000 in worth. These incidences paint a troubling pattern of security concerns at such communal establishments.

Vehicle owners were not spared either, with three reported break-ins where personal belongings and professional tools were snatched from inside parked cars. A glance down the block tells a tale of shattered windows and plundered cabins, from Jamestown Lane to Ardendale Drive, as per the Daly City Police Department. Additionally, the thieves' audacity did not end there; eight vehicles were stolen, and one attempted theft was reported. While the police managed to recover some of these stolen vehicles, the residents' sense of safety may take longer to restore.

As if thefts weren't enough to keep the police busy, the crime report also detailed 155 cases taken, including nine domestic disturbances and a similar number of vandalism acts. There were also eight narcotics-related cases. Despite the array of disruptions, no robberies were reported during the same period.
