A street race gone awry led to a vehicle's plunge into the White River in Sumner, authorities said. The Pierce County Metro Dive Team was dispatched to retrieve a 2013 Acura ILX that careened off a bridge during an illegal race, ending up submerged in the river depths.

According to the Pierce County Sheriff's Department blog, the incident occurred at the intersection of 142nd Ave E and Tacoma Ave. The Sumner Police, who initially responded to the crash, later enlisted the help of the dive team to fish out the sedan. The recovery operation saw the vehicle hoisted an impressive 60 feet in the air before it was securely placed back on terra firma and towed from the scene.

Dive team professionals employed heavy-duty cables to secure the sunken Acura, effortlessly lifting it from the water in a display of precise coordination and skill.
